THROWBACK To The Time When Karan Johar Saw Ranveer Singh On 'Band Baaja Baaraat' Poster And Thought 'Who Is Going To See This Film'
Ranveer Singh is celebrating his birthday today. The actor has come a long way since making his debut with 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. He has taken up some interesting and challenging roles and proved himself as an actor in Bollywood. And there's no denying that he is irreplaceable. Now it may come as a surprise to you that Karan Johar once advised Aditya Chopra against casting Ranveer in Band Baaja Baarat. Yes, you read that right!

During Ranveer Singh's first appearance on Koffee With Karan, KJo revealed that when he was in the YRF studios to have lunch with Aditya and Yash Johar, when he saw Ranveer for the first time, playing table tennis, he mistook him for an assistant director but was later informed that he is the 'new boy in Band Baaja Baaraat'. 'So I said, 'He is in Band Baaja Baaraat? Adi said, 'He is a really good actor, you have no idea how good he is.' I said, 'It doesn't matter, but he looks like this,' said Karan.

KJo then saw his Band Baaja Baaraat poster and asked Aditya to change it. He recalled thinking, 'Who is going to see this film?' and Aditya then urged him to see the trailer. 'I saw the promo and I was like, 'This boy actually has a sense of confidence and there is something about him. But it's not reflective in that poster, change that poster.' KJo then mentioned that when he went to see the film, he was like, 'Oh my God, he is a movie star. He is a bloody movie star.' Karan Johar added that he felt like the 'biggest fool' for underestimating the actor.

Ranveer Singh has several interesting projects in the pipeline. One of his many films include Karan Johar's multi-starrer Takht. Other than that, he has '83, Cirkus and Jayeshbhai Jordaar in his kitty.
